2013 Jaguar XF- Mirror replacement

This customer brought in his vehicle to replace the right door mirror. We ordered the part, prepped the exterior surfaces and got to painting! Minor repairs like these are our favorites! We enjoy helping all of our customers get their cars to meet their cosmetic satisfaction! Check out our Instagram! https://www.instagram.com/p/CgkwV3PPyYA/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

24 Heures du Mans (24 Hours of Le Mans)

Driver, 24 Hours of Lemans 2015

The greatest auto race in the world starts tomorrow, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It's our favorite because since 1923, people have been racing whatever they could bring for a whole day without stopping. There have been cars taken straight off showroom floors: Porsches, Corvettes, Aston Martins, Jaguars, Ferraris, Maseratis, Lamborghinis, Bentleys, Lotuses, Cobras. And then there are the prototypes--the no holds barred version of racing that exists nowhere else. These are the fastest vehicles on the planet with bleeding edge technology that defines where automobiles will be decades in the future. Or not. Some of the ideas are downright weird and fail miserably. Racing doesn't get any better.

1994 Jaguar Paint Job!

Almost Everything's Car of the Day is a 1994 Jaguar XJ6.  This Classic luxury car came to our shop looking not so luxurious.  Its paint had failed years ago, leaving behind remenants of old clear coat and exposed patches of the dull base coat, making it vulnerable to the elements. We began by removing all of the peeling and chipped paint, while some panels needed to be stripped to bare metal, which is quite common on most Jaguars. Once sanding was complete, we sealed the car with a primer, Painted it with our Enamel Single Stage paint, and finally baked the car in our oven to cure the finish on!

Jaguar's Good to Be Bad Promotion

Jaguar are promoting their new F-Type sports car (and we do mean sport--it is completely, unreservedly awesome) with their #GoodToBeBadContest.

The most recent contest "mission" was, "Tell us what song's playing when you're at your most villainous." It brought to mind a song that I used to blast on repeat while road racing along cliffs and mountain roads on the California coast above San Francisco.

So. . . here is Frank's (from Almost Everything's) insane driving theme song, "The Floral Dance" by The Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band (#2 on the British Pop Charts in 1977) . . .

Jaguar F-Type Coupe Coming Soon

Jaguar will introduce coupe version of F-Type Nov. 20, 2013

Almost Everything received a press release this afternoon. We drove the new Jaguar F-Type a few months ago and are fans. We just thought that it should be available as a coupe as well as a convertible. Apparently Almost Everything has more pull with Jaguar than we realized!

Here's what Jaguar announced today:

"The highly anticipated 2015 F-TYPE Coupe will  be officially unveiled on November 20, 2013 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The all-aluminum F-TYPE Coupe delivers on the promise of the C-X16 Concept Car, which won Autoweek's Best in Show award at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. “We've been overwhelmed by the positive reaction to the F-TYPE Convertible, says Ian Callum, Jaguar Director of Design, “But for me the purity of creating a sports coupe is a uniquely satisfying process. I know that both visually and dynamically, F-TYPE Coupe raises the bar yet again.”

We agree.

Jaguar F-Type In Cinders

This makes it official. The new Jaguar F-Type is a true exotic. Almost Everything's Wreck of the Day is the barely introduced Jaguar F-Type that has already spontaneously combusted, just like the best from Lamborghini and Ferrari.

Jaguar was kind enough to let the Almost Everything team drive a few F-Types on the runway at Alameda Naval Air Station a few weeks ago. The 'F' in F-Type stands for Fast and Furious. We like!

However these are NOT the photos from Joel's test drive--only the tires were smoldering when he got out. Instead, these come from Belgium via our good friends at WreckedExotics.com. The driver escaped unharmed and reported that the car simply caught fire on an off ramp. F may also stand for Flamable.

1937 Jaguar SS 100 Collision Repair!

Almost Everything's Car of the Day is our very own 1937 Jaguar SS 100.  It was an unfortunate day when we discovered our shop's pride and joy had been the victim of a brutal hit and run.  It appears that it may have been side swiped by a shoe, causing some gruesome damage.  The windsheild was broken, the front license plate brackets had been sheared clean off, and its rear left wheel was lost at the time of the accident. Luckily we recovered all of the parts missing off of the car and restored it back to its original condition! The car is on display in our office, come by and check it out today!

Jaguar E-Type Wreck in Argentina

E-Type participating in a vintage race was destroyed in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It hit a wall. Sad that this super-car from the 1960's survived this long but I guess it's one of those things where it went out doing what it did best. Thanks to the guys at WreckedExotics.com for letting us know about it.

New Jaguar F-Type?

Jaguar C-X16 Concept from 2011 Frankfurt International Auto Show
Original 1963 Jaguar XKE "E-Type"
Jaguar shows their "C-X16" Concept car in Frankfurt, Germany this week. The car looks very well fleshed out and Ian Callum, Jaguar's head of design, is specific about "introduction" price and engine. We heard a year ago that Jaguar approved an F-Type spiritual successor to the famed 1960's & 70's E-Type. We think this is it or close to it.

Our Love Affair with the New Jaguar XJ Continues

Thanks to the fine folks at GTSpirit.com for the most handsome video yet of the new Jaguar XJ. We continue to be smitten by this car and news that it drives better than everything from Mercedes, BMW, Audi and even Aston Martin & Porsche.

2011 Jaguar XJ Supersport--Best Car on the Road Today?

It is Automobile Magazine's 2011 Design of the Year. Critics are saying, "Better than Audi S8." "Better than BMW 750." "Better than Mercedes S600." "Better than Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin Rapid!" One journalist suggested it would steal sales from Bentley.

At $110K USD it is not cheap. . . but it is $20K to $200K less than its competition.

We at Almost Everything Autobody have been dreaming about a Maserati Quattroporte for a few years now but this new Jaguar has really given us something to think about.

Here's what some of these other reviewers are saying about it. . .

Stunning Cat--Limited Production of E-2011 Concept Planned

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the Jaguar E-Type at the 1961 Geneva Auto Show, Bo Zolland and Robert Palm have created a stunning E-Type tribute. Zolland is the founder of Vizualtech, a design house in Sweden. Palm is a designer based in Switzerland.
Top Gear is now reporting that the concept reception has been so good that Zolland and Palm are planning to actually produce the car using Jaguar XKR mechanicals including the supercharged 600 bhp 5.0-litre V8. The designers are targeting 0-100 k/hr (0-62 mph) in the high 3-second range. Expect to pay anywhere from $700K - $1.4M (US Dollar), depending on actual demand. The boys hope to have the first cars on the streets next year.

San Francisco International Auto Show

I spent a day at the San Francisco International Auto show with my father & friends this past weekend. SF Gate magazine actually published a photo of some of us, David Lehrer & his kids, in front of a Mini Cooper. David has been a great friend for 30 years and has probably been to the car show with me 25 times.

Let Downs:

Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead--I think my father got it right when he called it "a Dodge Ram on steroids." It's a whale of a car that isn't as ugly as the current Phantom but this 2-door convertible is surprisingly ungainly up close and one of the few cars that looks better in photos than it does in real life.

Acura--what happened to those beautiful cars from just a couple of years ago? I've gotten used to the "beaks" on the hood and I am drawn to the looks of the TL on the freeway but at the car show I got inside the cars for the first time. They seemed cramped and the interiors weren't as elegant as the previous models. The changes to make the RL look like the rest of the model line are pitiful. I can't be the only one to think so because I don't think I've ever seen one on the road.
Nissan & Infiniti--Where were they?

Surprises:

Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon--in the past few years I've really come to love station wagons. The CTS is a world class car and the Sport Wagon means you can have a lot of driving fun and still haul everything you need. This may be the best Cadillac since my favorites from the 1920's & 1930"s.

Honda Crosstour--Essentially a fastback version of the Accord. This updated design gives the car a handsome, unified look.

Hyundai Equus--A great follow-up to the well-received Genesis, the Equus is a very big car. It looks like the best from Lexus. The interior appears the equal or superior to any luxury brand and the exterior is (with the exception of the anime version of the "Spirit of Ecstasy" on the hood) is sleek, restrained & imposing in just the right way. The spokesperson at the display said that previous versions of the Equus were used by diplomats & statesmen in Korea.

Aston Martin--Okay, no real surprises here. Aston makes the most gorgeous cars on the planet right now.

Jury is Still Out:

Jaguar XJ--I have been a Jaguar fan my entire life. I still aspire to own a 1966-1968 S-Type and I think the exterior of the 2003-2009 aluminum-bodied XJ to be the most handsome evolution of the original 1968 body style (even if the interior wasn't.) The 2010 XJ is a big change and I'm not sure I like the gaping mouth on the front but I'm warming to it. The design, and especially the headlamps, work better than they did on the XF. The interior, from what I could see of it, looks intriguing: dark and a bit Blade-Runner/Matrix/5th Element-ish but with subtle splashes of chrome & sparks of light. I guess I'm convincing myself. Let's drive it!
