1998 Honda Civic Sedan

Almost Everything's Car of the Day is a 1998 Honda Civic. When this car came to us it had many of the usual "Honda problems" such as: peeling/delaminating paint, microchecking paint (a condition where the primer beneath the paint fails, forming a "checked" looking top finish) and minor chips and scratches. It had also recently been hit on the rear quarter panel/rear door causing a decent sized dent in both panels. We repaired the damage caused by the accident by pulling and reshaping the existing sheetmetal as closely as possible to its original form and applying a very thin layer of plastic filler to smooth out all of the wrinkles and dings. Once the bodywork had been completed we moved on to sanding. The hood and fenders had to be stripped down to bare metal due to the microchecking on these panels. The rest of the car luckily didn't have microchecking, however it did have peeling or "delaminating" paint, which was smoothed and feathered until it was all gone. Priming the car was the next step, this provides a protective sealing layer between the bare metal and the top coat of paint, while providing a solid even surface for the new paint to adhere to. Instead of repainting the car with its original green, the owner decided to change the color to "Diamond Black" in our base coat/clear coat paint package!

ALMOST EVERYTHING'S CODY THOMPSON WINS NASCAR FALL CLASSIC

Almost Everything's very own Cody Thompson took fast-time and led the final 16 laps to win the prestigious Fall Classic for NASCAR Modifieds on October 12, 2012 at Roseville, California's All American Speedway.  Friday's win is Thompson's second of 2012 in a season that saw him finish fourth in the NASCAR California State points.

"I was happy to finish off the season on a high note with all the hardship we have come across," Thompson said, referring to a blown engine and mechanical issues earlier in the season."This win was a much needed win for CTR and Eclipse Racing."

Thompson started the 50 lap contest in sixth position. The 19 year-old jumped into third position by lap three. One lap later, Thompson passed Keegan Walmer to take over second. Thompson's focus shifted to Eclipse Racing teammate Jay Linstroth. Thompson chased down Linstroth and after looking high and low for several laps, Thompson completed the pass for the lead on lap 34. The final 16 laps of the race saw Thompson fend off a late charge from Walmer to take a .325 second victory at the checkered flag.

Despite a season with some bad luck, Thompson has accumulated ten top-fives and 14 top-tens in 22 starts.  His other victory this season came on June 30 at Stockton 99 Speedway.

With four Modified wins and three USAC Ford Focus wins over the last three seasons, Thompson's focus will turn to Late Model competition. The October 19-20, 2012 Stockton 99 Speedway "Fall Classic" for Late Models will be Thompson's debut and is scheduled for 100 laps. "I'm excited to finally race a Late Model and have my debut at the Stockton Open Show," Thompson said.  "I look forward to the challenge and competition in this division."

2005 Acura RSX

Almost Everything's Car of the Day is a 2005 Acura RSX. This fairly new car has spent much of its time outdoors, resulting in the delaminating/peeling paint you can see in the following pictures. Sun, heat and outdoor elements are the main causes of such paint failure, once the peeling starts it is virtually impossible to stop.  A common way to prevent this from happening to your vehicle is to regulary wash and wax the exterior with a good quality paste wax, think of it as sunscreen for your car. Any paint job will fail over time, but proper care and prevention will preserve your finish much longer!  We restored the finish on this particular car with our Enamel + UV protective paint.

1998 Honda Prelude

Almost Everything's Car of the Day is a 1998 Honda Prelude. When this car came to us, it was in need of some serious help. The paint had begun to peel or "delaminate" making this red car appear pink! We corrected this issue by removing the delaminating paint, repairing some minor chips and scratches, applying a sealer primer to the newly reconditioned surface, and finishing it off with our Enamel + UV protectant paint!

Don't let this happen to you!

Almost Everything's Cars of the Day are a 1997 Toyota Camry and a 1994 Chevrolet Pickup. As you can see in the pictures below, they both had been damaged in a collision and "repaired" by a less than qualified individual. Maybe you have been approached in a parking lot by a person who says they can "fix your dent" for an incredibly low cost. In many instances these "repairs" they are doing are actually causing much more harm than good! They will put on a big show with hammers, drills, unidentified filler matter, spray paint, and a incredible amount of false promises, appearing as if they know exactly what they are doing.

What they are actually doing;

1. Ripping innocent people off by performing shoddy repairs and promising a perfect finish, claiming that "all that is needed is paint" after they are done. Which unfortunately, is far from the truth, since many of these "parking lot repair men" have no professional experience, they improperly lay in inches of thick substance to fill the dents and holes that they created during the "repair". The substances they use are not always automotive body filler, some cars have even come to us with concrete slathered into the sheet metal.

2. Weakening your vehicles structural integrity by the use of improper tools. Drilling holes to pull and repair dents was common in the stone ages of auto body repair, with todays technology we can pull and fill dents the proper way from the outside of the vehicle, with no drilling required. Our non intrusive method of repairing dents retains the strength of the existing body panel, while keeping use of body filler to a minimum.

3. Making proper repairs more costly. When people come to us with these improperly repaired vehicles, it is very hard to break the news to them that they had been scammed out of their hard earned money, and how we want to repair something that had already been "fixed". For a proper repair we have to remove the existing "filler substance", repair, or even sometimes replace panels that have become too badly damaged from either the parking lot repairs or the collision itself.

4. Voiding any chance of a warranty through Almost Everything. We cannot offer any type of warranty on vehicles that have had improper/3rd party repairs performed on them. Instead of having a shady character in a parking lot "repair" your dents, come talk to us. We will be glad to provide you with a free written estimate, professionally fix the damage and offer a warranty, in many instances this covers the repairs for as long as you own the vehicle.

Classic Work Truck Brought Back To Life!

Almost Everything's Car of the Day is this 1983 Nissan Pickup, when this little truck came to us it had a serious problem with delaminating paint. Since the paint was gone in many areas, the bare metal underneath was exposed to moisture, causing rust. We sanded down the damaged paint, applied a sealer/primer and finishing the whole truck with our Enamel + UV protectant paint in its original white color.
