Todays wreck of the day was unfortunately deemed a "Total Loss" by our customers insurance. When vehicles are damaged to the point that the repair costs are more than the car is worth the insurance will determine if it is a total loss or not. Thankfully our customer was okay but their 2008 Acura TL is not. This vehicle qualifies for our "Almost" list here at Almost Everything Autobody!

Collision Repair on Toyota Camry
Today's 2008 Camry had badly damaged doors and rocker panel. Allstate Insurance paid for the repairs. We replaced the front door and repaired the rear one and the rocker panel. Then we refinished the damage area with factory paint and blended new paint to the adjacent panels. This type repair comes with our lifetime paint warranty.

More Ferrari Hill Climbing Mischief
Almost Everything's Wreck of the Day is a Ferrari F430 Spider. As you can see, the hill climb attempt was a bit too ambitious. One more example of why we strongly recommend Ferraris be used only on paved roads and not for rock climbing. We recommend Land Rover, Jeep and Steyr-Daimler-Puch for mud and boulders. (We should also mention that everyone involved in this accident lived to tell about it.)

Our Continuing Series on Ferrari Offroading
Almost Everything's Wreck of the Day is a Ferrari 355. Long time fans know that we regularly report on Ferraris that are driven off the pavement. In this case, Wrecked Exotics reports that it was not the driver's fault, "A vehicle cut the Ferrari off, swerved into the grass and up a rock ledge and flipped. Both occupant's OK, just banged up."

Stop Ferrari Abuse!
Almost Everything's Wreck of the Day--the latest in our long running series of what NOT to do with a Ferrari. Long envious of Lotus' lock on the supercar/submarine market, a driver in China decided to develop his own, Ferrari-based super-sub. As can be seen in these photos, it is still in need of development.

Ferrari California vs Bus
It has been far too long since we've posted a Wreck of the Day. So today we are making up for the lapse. Almost Everything's Wreck of the Day is a 2014 Ferrari California.
The accident took hours to clear and caused major traffic delays in the city of Ajman, United Arab Emirates. Police accuse the driver of excessive speed and reckless driving. First responders assumed the Ferrari passengers would have to be dead. Not only were they alive but not too seriously injured. It helped that the driver, a man in his 20's, had been able to slow before hitting the bus by plowing into 4 or 5 other cars (accounts vary.) Both Ferrari occupants went to the hospital and are expected to make full recoveries.
Astonishingly, everyone survived with only minor injuries.
Thanks to our good buddies across the bay at WreckedExotics.com for their regular doses of supercar mayhem. Thanks also to Carscoops.com, InAutoNews and Daljinder Nagra at AOL for additional details.

Video of Lamborghini Aventador Crash
We wonder what the Mazda driver's insurance rates were after this crash. Almost Everything's Wreck of the Day is a special edition Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 called the "Nero Nemesis." Amazingly, it was all caught on video. Lots of debate on internet over who was at fault--was the Lambo going too fast? Or was the Mazda driver just oblivious? (We fall into the camp of the Mazda driver needed to yield to traffic.) Either way, no one was seriously injured. DuPont Registry lists a Lamborghini Aventador Nero Namesis at $450,000. The crash happened on Sloane St. in London, England.
Thanks, as always, to our friends at WreckedExotics.com for e-mailing us with the photos and video.

Join Us to Stop Ferrari Abuse!
We like to stay out of politics. . . but on this issue our hackles have been raised! In the past week we reported 2 poor, defenseless Ferraris destroyed by senseless offroading. Today we add a third.
Almost Everything's Wreck of the Day is an F458 Italia driven by what we are sure is a mature 18 year old from Norway. Sadly, the immense wealth of his parents could not buy knowledge that Ferraris cannot conquer all terrains, do not have 18" of ground clearance and have not been tested on the surface of Mars. Some argue that Ferrari has never made any of these claims and that most fools can tell that a Ferrari should be driven on pavement. The evidence is clearly to the contrary and until a permanent solution can be found, we think fools and their Ferraris should be parted. Send us your Ferrari and we guarantee not to off road it for you.

Won't you do your part? Tell Ferrari to stop promoting off road use of these innocent supercars! Leave the mud and boulders to Land Rover, Jeep and Steyr-Daimler-Puch.
Note: despite the severity of the crash, the driver was uninjured. And thankfully, no one at the school where this crash took place was hurt. Thanks to WreckedExotics.com for our regular doses of exotic car mayhem.

Ferrari FF and F355 Destroyed in Offroad Adventures
Almost Everything's Wreck of the Day is not one but 2 different Ferraris used for off roading. Sadly this isn't the first time we've joked about a Ferrari being used as a Jeep. The first wreck comes from Lancashire, England where an Oakley Design tuned Ferrari FF worth about US$300,000 stopped running up this hill when it finally hit a tree!
The second set of photos comes from Germany where a farmer was using his Ferrari F355 to plow his field. We are only speculating but it seems obvious that either an angry bull or a belligerent gang of llamas rolled the Ferrari several times.
Thankfully, both the farmer and the hill climber survived these crashes with few if any injuries.
Thanks to our buddies at WreckedExotics.com for always providing us with expensive mayhem.

Nissan GT-R End-Over
Here's something you don't see everyday. Almost Everything's Wreck of the Day is a Nissan GT-R Racer. In the video several GT-Rs pass by during the 2014 Long Tom Hill Climb race in the town of Sabie, Mpumalanga, South Africa. The last car takes the turn a little too fast, flips several times before disappearing down a ravine. This was the fourth run of the day for 47 year old driver Wilhelm Baard. Fortunately he was not seriously injured and attended the awards ceremony at the end of the event. Baard won South Africa's Knysna Hill Climb in 2011 in a GT-R.
The 2014 Long Tom Hill Climb took place on January 25th and 26th. It was sponsored by Renault (Nissan's parent) and the Sports Car Club of South Africa. The race covers 6.3 km (3.9 miles) along the banks of the Sabie River in Mpumalanga, South Africa. The next video shows cars leaving the starting line and beginning their assault on the hill. The sounds are great.
Many thanks to the spectators who recorded these videos, our friends at WreckedExotics.com who reliably find an astonishing amount of this type stuff on a daily basis, and to AutoEvolution who provided us with the background story and more images of the event.

Video of 3 Lamborghinis on Fire!
We approach this with some guilty glee. You know we love reporting burning super cars. Today's Wreck of the Day is a trifecta. A group of 5 Lamborghinis were travelling in convoy from the city-state of Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The middle car lost traction and crashed into the center divide. The car behind it (not sure if it was the ugly BMW or one of the other Lamborghinis) crashed into an additional 2 cars then a bus hit the lot of them. Somehow 3 of the Lamborghinis, an Aventador and 2 Gallardos, ended-up on top of each other. Being Lamborghinis, they, of course, burst into flames. And there's video! Director Norazam of the local fire and rescue reported that drivers & passengers escaped without injury.

Porsche 911 Marianas
Almost Everything announces major automotive breaking news. We believe these photos prove beyond reasonable doubt that Porsche is developing a 911 for underwater use. Ing. Dr. Franz Helmut Martin von Düsseldorf says, "Porsche and, indeed, all of Germany, has felt the need to field a supercar-submarine ever since Lotus purportedly accomplished the feat for the James Bond movie "The Spy Who Loved Me." Our news follows billionaire Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk's announcement to also develop a road-going submarine based on the James Bond Lotus.
The tests are being secretly conducted in Jinan, China. Our keen spy photography network allowed us to obtain & provide these photos. Of course, Porsche has made no comment to us and has so far neither admitted nor denied working on a street racing submarine.
Almost Everything has nicknamed this 911 the "Marianas" after the unrivaled Pacific trench.
Here can be seen what Almost Everything has dubbed the "911 Marianas" emerging from a test dive. |
Special thanks to our great friends at WreckedExotics.com who provided the photos for this story (not to imply that they believe a word of it.)

2013 Ferrari F12 Put Out to Pasture
Almost Everything's Wreck of the Day is a brand new Ferrari F12 Berlinetta out for a test drive along the scenic lake front of the small town of Breukeleveen, Netherlands. Regio14.nl reports that the driver and his grandson were in the car when it lost control, rolled & hit a tree. Both occupants were able to exit the car without injuries.
We liked Paul Sliggers' comment on the Regio14.nl website that "The prancing horse is grazing." And Ton de Ruijter quipped, "Very fast, but do you have this in green. . . ?"
Thanks to our buddies at WreckedExotics.com who find and distribute this type mayhem to us.

"It's Just a Little Ding"
Almost Everything's Wreck of the Day is a Mercedes E-Class. This is what we imagine when customers say "There's just one small dent." We can only joke about this horrific accident because, amazingly, WreckedExotics.com reports the driver of the Mercedes "walked away without a scratch."
The accident happened in Belgium. The truck had a tire blowout and suddenly lurched into the Mercedes' lane.

Tesla Model S Crash
Almost Everything's Wreck of the Day is a 2013 Tesla Model S--the first one we know of to wreck. Almost Everything is located about 5 miles from the Tesla factory so we are fortunate to have Tesla employees as customers and to see Teslas every day.
This was a serious crash but the driver was uninjured. In addition to being blindingly fast, handling better than virtually anything on the road and getting the best fuel efficiency, the National Highway Safety Administration says the Model S is the safest car ever tested. We want one.

Lamborghini hits 250 MPH. . . then Bursts Into Flames (of course)
Almost Everything's Wreck of the Day is yet another Lamborghini. If you know us at all, you know we can't pass up an exotic supercar flambé-ing itself. This time there's a somewhat reasonable excuse. This particular Lamborghini, called the "LP570-4 Underground Racing R2/Altechno," has 2005 HP and set an all time speed record at the Moscow Unlimited 500+ drag races. It is traveling 402 kph (250 mph) at the finish line. . . then it blows up. Great video.

Another Exotic Car Immolates Itself
Almost Everything's Wreck of the Day is a Ferrari F430 Spyder. We've had a recent facination with absurdly expensive sports cars turning themselves to ashes. This one was parked in Florida when WreckedExotics.com says it "spontaneously combusted." Somehow reminds us of the song "I'm Too Sexy." These cars have so much potential that sometimes they just can't contain it and suddenly blow up without warning.
Thanks to WreckedExotics.com for the photos. Look for more exotic car mayhem at their site!

Jaguar F-Type In Cinders
This makes it official. The new Jaguar F-Type is a true exotic. Almost Everything's Wreck of the Day is the barely introduced Jaguar F-Type that has already spontaneously combusted, just like the best from Lamborghini and Ferrari.
Jaguar was kind enough to let the Almost Everything team drive a few F-Types on the runway at Alameda Naval Air Station a few weeks ago. The 'F' in F-Type stands for Fast and Furious. We like!
However these are NOT the photos from Joel's test drive--only the tires were smoldering when he got out. Instead, these come from Belgium via our good friends at WreckedExotics.com. The driver escaped unharmed and reported that the car simply caught fire on an off ramp. F may also stand for Flamable.

Nature at Its Finest--A Falcon Nesting in a Tree. . .
This photo came to us in an e-mail. We don't have any information about who took it or where it was taken. It looks to us to be about a 1960-1962 Ford Falcon. Let us know if you have the story behind it.
