Reaching the Checkered Flag!

19 years have flown by since I opened Almost Everything Auto Body. The job was a lot of fun. I met so many great customers, employees and suppliers. And we had an ever-changing collection of cars to "play with." Thanks so much to my team for doing great work and keeping customers happy. You were the key to our success and I will be forever grateful. Thanks also to our many loyal customers and suppliers who in many cases came to be friends. I'm planning to see the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Goodwood Festival of Speed. And I'm usually hanging around Monterey for Pebble Beach Car Week, the Monterey Historic Races and I always enjoy prototype & GT-style racing at Laguna Seca and Sonoma (I still call it Sears Point.) So I hope to see you there soon!

As for the future of the shop, I've sold it to G&C Auto Body, a San Francisco Bay Area family-owned chain. Their signs should go up in February 2025. They have a great reputation for collision repair and most of Almost Everything's employees will be continuing with them.

For the type of complete-car paint jobs that have been Almost Everything's claim to fame, I know there are not a lot of shops offering this type of service and many of you have expressed your disappointment that we are closing. A few old customers and friends have expressed interest in reviving the Almost Everything name so that economical, complete car paint jobs will continue in the Bay Area. Stay tuned, hopefully this part of the story may continue somewhere in the future.

1992 BMW 850i- Complete Car Paint Job

 This customer brought in their 1992 BMW 380i for a complete car paint job. They chose our Enamel Single Stage paint with our Basic sealer. We repaired a dent on the driver side fender, dents on both left and right doors and stress cracks and a gouge on the rear bumper. Once repairs were completed we sanded the delaminating (peeling) paint and it was ready for the paint booth. The customer was thrilled with the results and the 850i was back on the road!

2004 Mazda Miata- Overall Paint Job

 This customer brought in their 2004 Mazda Miata for a complete paint job. They chose our Enamel Single Stage paint with our basic sealer. We sanded out any minor chips and scratches along with sanding any delaminating (peeling) paint and some surface rust forming on the front windshield frame. After the prep was done, the vehicle went into the paint booth and it came out looking brand new! 

2017 Mazda CX5- Customer Pay Collision Repair

 This customer brought in their 2017 Mazda CX5 for an out of pocket collision repair. We replaced the from bumper, wheel opening molding and the mounting bracket on the passenger side of the vehicle. Once the bumper was done being prepped we painted it, installed the new parts and the vehicle was back on the road looking as good as new!

2009 Lexus IS250- Overall Paint Job

 This customer brought in their 2009 Lexus IS250 for an complete paint job to correct vandalism. They chose our Enamel single stage paint with our basic sealer. We sanded off the peeling paint on the front left door. The vandalism left deep scratches on all the panels of the vehicle which we sanded out with our Chip & Scratch Major sanding package. Once the scratches were sanded out we got the car in the booth. Unfortunately the vandal pressed deep into the metal and left indentations of the key marks which were visible underneath the primer. We mentioned this to the customer and she approved another round of sanding. We redid the process and the second time around the scratches were covered. Once the paint was cured the vehicle looked as good as new!
