Aston Martin Rapide Totaled

It never takes too long for someone to destroy cars like this. The Aston Martin Rapide is one of the fastest and arguably the most beautiful 4-door sedan on the road today. Apparently the traction control really does work--and the button to disable it is one to avoid. Thanks to our buddies at WreckedExotics.com for this nugget.

Here's some pictures Almost Everything Autobody took of a Rapide when we were at Laguna Seca for the American LeMans Race:

2004 Porsche 911 GT3 Wreck

It's hard to tell from this photo but this was a 2004 Porsche 911 GT3. The remains are in Chicago. It looks to us like it flipped and rolled several times. Visit WreckedExotics.com for details and pictures of other very expensive junk.

Porsche 911-Special Submariner Edition

Sadly, tests of the new 911 Submariner have not gone swimmingly.

Actually, this photo is courtesy of WreckedExotics.com. A friend of the Porsche owner was getting to the drive the car, accidentally put it in reverse then drove it off a boat ramp.

Video of America's Cup Wreck

Nothing to do with cars today. Our small town of Fremont is on San Francisco Bay. This year we have contestants for the America's Cup providing a lot of exciting racing and dramatic images.

Rowan Atkinson McLaren F1 Crash

Rowan Atkinson, the British comedian famed for Mr. Bean, Blackadder and Not the Nine O'Clock News, wrecked one of the 106 McLaren F1 supercars in the world last Thursday (Aug. 4, 2011.) Atkinson had relatively minor injuries after what appears to be an horrific accident. Atkinson is an accomplished driver and had put 37,000 miles on this car over 14 years. The F1 may be our favorite car, period. It is drop dead gorgeous and competitors still struggle to go faster 20 years after it was produced. Atkinson is said to be sending the car back to the McLaren factory for rebuilding. USA Today reports that an F1 sold in 2008 for $4 million dollars.

Almost Everything Sponsored Formula Mazda Crashes

WCFE Round 4 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca from Lloyd Read on Vimeo.

The Almost Everything sponsored Lloyd Read Formula Mazda is still in the hunt for the FE Championship but as this video shows, it was forced to retire during Round 4 of the series. Read spins early in the race then, amazingly, retakes most of the cars in the field. Sadly, as Read attempts a pass in Turn 2, he is forced off the track, spins and is hit by another car. Suspension damage puts the car out of the race.

See Read in his faster Pro Formula Mazda this weekend at Infineon Raceway, Sears Point for the Formula Car Challenge by Goodyear:

  Date: June 11-12, 2011
  Time: 8:00 - 6:00
"Our" car races 3:30 Sat., 4:00 Sun.
  Place: Infineon Raceway, Sears Point

1930's Car Crash

There is a myth that old cars were better & tougher than modern cars. This car crashed into a fairly small tree. See the full story at one of our favorite car sites, Jalopnik.com.

Ferrari FXX Crash at Laguna Seca

We didn't see this crash while we were at the track this month. It is supposed to be the first recorded crash of a Ferrari FXX (the $1.8 million street version of the Ferrari Enzo racing car.) According to our friends at WreckedExotics.com, it happened during a special "Ferrari Racing Days" event at Mazda Raceway, Laguna Seca on May 22, 2011. The Ferrari went off the track at Turn 8 "The Corkscrew" and crashed into the tire wall.

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Stolen & Crashed

Wrecked Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport
How is it that a vehicle who's production can be counted on fingers and toes seems to appear in crash photos just about every month? We at Almost Everything Autobody think that the same cars must be quickly repaired and crashed again to maintain this kind of frequency. Thankfully owners capable of plunking down 2 million dollars or so for one of these Earth-bound missiles are usually well insured.

This particular Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport, according to our buddies at WreckedExotics.com, was stolen in Switzerland along with a Ferrari 599 and a BMW 750iL. They crossed into Germany where they were chased by police and ultimately caught but not until after the Bugatti was crashed into a barrier.

Scott Sanchez Spins at Las Vegas Blackjack 121 Race

#24 Scott Sanchez Chevrolet Spins in Las Vegas

The Almost Everything Autobody sponsored Chevrolet Impala SS of Scott Sanchez tangled with Brian Herzog in turns 3 & 4 of the Blackjack 121 Race at the Bullring in Las Vegas May 14, 2011. Skilled driving and a bit of luck allowed Sanchez to finish the race but the spin would put him out of contention for the podium.

Lamborghini "Turned Turtle"

Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster flipped on its head in Cape Town, South Africa. With a center of gravity about 4" off the ground one has to wonder just how crazily this person was driving to manage to flip the car. No word or injuries (usually a good thing) but since it is (was) a convertible, the end of the drive could not have been pleasant.
Thanks to our buddies at WreckedExotics.com for these photos. Visit them for lots more very expensive destruction.

2011 Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Collision

2011 Mercedes Benz SLS AMG
From our buddies at WreckedExotics.com comes this photo of a 1-day old, $200K+ Mercedes Benz SLS AMG gullwing in Bosnia. The owner picked-up his car the previous day and was taking it on a high-speed excursion. A tour bus got in the way and the SLS crashed into a Volkswagen.

Disastrous Start to Le Mans Series--Massive Crash

Race officials bungled the start of the Le Mans Series season opener at Paul Ricard HTTT (High Tech Test Track) in Le Castellet, France. The green lights came on above the starting line but the pace car stayed in front of the pole cars. Racers in back accelerated at the same time racers in front hit the brakes. Result: chaos, huge crash, destroyed cars, red-faced officials.

Thanks to Axis of Oversteer for the breaking news.
