Almost Everything's Car of the Day is a 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe named "Betsy." This old Mustang belongs to one of our employees. He and his dad got this car in extremely rough condition in 2002. After getting the chassis and powertrain in order the car sat from 2004 until 2013, gathering dirt, dust, spiders and plenty of surface rust. Believe it or not, the car has only been fully painted one other time in its life, which was when it was assembled in Milpitas, CA in 1965. The previous owner wanted to have the car painted orange. Luckily (for the people who frown upon bright "Chevy orange" colored Mustangs) he ran out of money while the car was still in primer. That was in 1978. Our team member stripped off all of the old primer and the surface rust captured beneath it and repaired the two front fenders which were handcrafted...er...mangled, by the previous owner with a big hammer. Our painter applied the purest black that we had in our color swatch book. Our team member chose to have his Mustang painted with our basic "Single Stage" paint to showcase how even a simple paint job can completely transform the looks of an old car that needs some love. *Don't mind the misaligned front bumper cover, our employee knows it is not mounted properly yet. He does not care at the moment as the car is still "under construction" and probably will remain that way until approximately mid to late August of the year 2035*
