The Formula Car Challenge is part of the "Road to Indy" that trains drivers and showcases talent to F1 and Indy teams. Read joins a very elite alumni that includes NASCAR and Formula One star Scott Speed, Indy drivers Marco Andretti and Graham Rahal and NASCAR/Champ Car/GTP driver Michael McDowell.

Read Takes Thunderhill Pole to Finish

Almost Everything's young racing sensation, Lloyd Read continues his dominance of the 2011 Formula Enterprise Championship with a win at Thunderhill. Read qualified on the pole and refused to relinquish the lead all the way to the checkered flag. Read leads the series with 6 podium finishes out of 7 races so far this season.

Read was born in Cwmbran, Wales (note Union Jacks on car.) No, we don't know how you pronounce Cwmbran but we do know it has 3 hotels, 12 restaurants, 22 pubs and another 10 bars (sadly, we don't know what the difference between a pub & a bar is either but we think the ratios sound fine.) Lloyd split his childhood between the United Kingdom and the United States. The San Francisco Bay Area is now his home.

Lloyd Read Wins SCCA Race at Laguna Seca!

Almost Everything Autobody sponsored Lloyd Read sets track record and goes on to win the SCCA SFR Championship race at Mazda Raceway, Laguna Seca, California in his Formula Mazda. This comes after his 2nd Place finish at Infineon Raceway, Sears Point in March. Congratulations Lloyd! Next race is June 11-12, 2011, again at Infineon Raceway.

In the second race of the day Read again looked great, passing much of the field before tangling with another car in Turn 2 at the mid-point of the race. He was quickly able to clear his car from oncoming traffic and get back on the track only to discover that damage to his rear suspension prevented him from finishing.

Join Almost Everything, Lloyd Read Racing and US Olympic Gold Medalists Tyler Clary and  Erin Cafaro this weekend at the 2012  GoPro Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma at Sears Point, California. Almost Everything's Lloyd Read will contest races 9 & 10 of the Formula Car Challenge Presented by Goodyear between Indy Car races. Read won the championship in 2011 driving for Almost Everything. So far in 2012, Read has put Almost Everything on the podium in the 4 out of 4 races we've competed including a 1st place finish.

In addition to all the IndyCar stars, Tyler Clary who won gold in the 200-meter backstroke and Erin Cafaro who won 2 consecutive gold medals in rowing will be guests at the event.

Horrific End to Goodyear Formula Car Challenge

Amazing video of the last lap of the 2012 Goodyear Formula Car Challenge from the driver's seat of Lloyd Read in the #16 Almost Everything Mazda. In the lead with only a few turns left to win the overall series championship, Read & another driver tangle, tangle again, finally wreck & go airborne. The amazing part is that Read drives through to the end of the race with one wheel hanging off the car. As he finally crosses the finish line his tire starts to burn. Read finished the season with 5 podium finishes and 2 wins.

Lloyd Read Widens Lead in SCCA Formula Car Championship

Almost Everything-sponsored Lloyd Read expanded his lead in the SFR Formula Championship by placing 2nd in Round 5 and 2nd again in Round 6 of the series. That puts Read 4 points ahead of Jerry Kroll and 8 points in front of John Yeatman in the run for the championship.

Read said, "Laguna Seca this weekend went well. I qualified 2nd in the first race and was leading into turn 2 but then got passed in turn 4. I was then battling for 2nd when I had a gearbox issue and another car got around me. So I knuckled down and re-passed him 2 laps later and drove on to the end of the race."

"The second race I qualified 2nd again but was only .01 off the pole time! So close! The race started and I was 2nd for 5 laps until we had a safety car. On the restart we changed positions 3 times in one straightaway dogging around slower cars. I was now forth coming out of turn 2 and was pissed. So I made a move into turn 3 and took 3rd back. Then 1 lap later I pressured the guy in 2nd into making a mistake and he spun in turn 10. I drove to the checkered flag in 2nd."

"Next race for me is Portland , Oregon in 2 weeks in the Formula Car Challenge."

Read won the 2011 Goodyear Formula Car Challenge Series for Almost Everything. He led the series again in 2012 until crashes caused by other drivers put him out of contention. In 2013 Read piloted the #16 Almost Everything-JDC Motorsports formula car in the Star Mazda Championship.

Here's a very nice photo of the Almost Everything Pro Formula Mazda during testing at Infineon Raceway in Sears Point, California. Lloyd Read won the 2011 Goodyear Formula Car Challenge series championship driving for Almost Everything. So far this year, Read and Almost Everything have taken the pole in race 3 and finished 1st in race 4. Almost Everything Sponsored Formula Mazda Crashes

The Almost Everything sponsored Lloyd Read Formula Mazda is still in the hunt for the FE Championship but as this video shows, it was forced to retire during Round 4 of the series. Read spins early in the race then, amazingly, retakes most of the cars in the field. Sadly, as Read attempts a pass in Turn 2, he is forced off the track, spins and is hit by another car. Suspension damage puts the car out of the race.
