Repairs to Crashed Civic

Honda Civic with damaged front bumper, fender and headlight.

Our Car of the Day is a 2006 Honda Civic with damage to the bumper, fender, door and quarter panel. We replaced the bumper and fender plus some interior parts and we repaired the dents on the door and quarter panel. Finally we refinished the damaged areas with original factory paint.

Good Quality vs Poor Quality Body Repairs

Cracks, rust and peeling paint from a previous, poor quality repair before new repairs at Almost Everything Auto Body

Today's Car of the Day highlights the differences between good and bad quality materials and workmanship. The quarter panel on this 2004 Toyota Highlander was repaired at another shop using poor quality paint and a sub-standard repair process. The newer paint in the repair area failed much earlier than the old paint on the rest of the vehicle. In addition, body filler was applied too thick over an improperly prepared surface. The result is body filler that is cracking and pulling away from the panel. Water is getting inside the cracks and forming rust. We cleaned out the old body filler and rust, re-did the dent repair and repainted. Almost Everything uses great materials and experienced technicians. We stand by our work with a written warranty that is the best in the industry.

2005 Pontiac GTO (a Holden Monaro in Disguise)

Pontiac GTO repainted "Cyclone Grey" at Almost Everything Auto Body

Almost Everything's Car of the Day is a 2005 Pontiac GTO (enthusiasts will also recognize it as a Holden Monaro designed & built by GM of Australia.) It is a rare beast in the USA (emphasis on beast.) We love the understated design and the gigantic engine lurking beneath. This one arrived at the body shop with some dents and painted black. It left with a clean skin painted "Cyclone Grey."

Broken Mirror

Cracked mirror on Toyota Camry before replacement at Almost Everything Auto Body

New Mirror
Replacement mirror painted and installed at Almost Everything Auto Body

We replace mirrors all the time. Most often they get broken in tight parking spaces. This one is unusual in that it got hit by a motorcyclist. Don't be embarrassed if you broke your mirror backing out of your own garage. You are in good company!

Replacement parts including mirrors almost always come unpainted. We have lots of customers that plan to install mirrors themselves but need paint. No problem! We're happy to paint parts for do it yourselfers. Occasionally a car manufacturer will offer pre-painted mirrors. If you are lucky enough to find one, buy it! Even if it costs a bit more, it is usually cheaper than buying a mirror then having a body shop paint it.

Final word on mirrors (and all car parts): make sure you know what you need. You'd be amazed at how many variations there can be for a single year and model of car. The sport model looks different than the luxury and economy models. Installation and connectors can be completely different for manual vs. power, heated, memory, integrated turn signals & lights, blind spot detectors & cameras, self-dimming, folding and non-folding. . . you get the idea.

Let us know if we can help.

Creased Quarter Panel on Mustang

Collision repairs & complete paint job on 1995 Ford Mustang by Almost Everything Auto Body

Almost Everything's Car of the Day is a 1995 Ford Mustang that had a big crease on its side. The damage was not covered by insurance so the customer took a budget-minded approach. Instead of removing the trim in the damaged area (tail light, black mouldings, bumper cover, vent) the customer had us mask these parts to keep labor costs to a minimum. And because the car was faded, he also took the opportunity to paint the entire car, not just the damaged area. For those with good eyes who spot something a little odd, he's going to replace the passenger side mirror himself.
